Criteria for National Trophies

After the Annual dinner an awards ceremony is held. All the trophies and awards listed here are presented, unless there is no qualifier that year.

Trophy winners awarded by the Board

THE ALEC McGUINNESS MEMORIAL TROPHY

An award to the ‘Unsung Hero’, that is someone who has given unfailing service to Endurance GB by way of help at rides or assistance in any other way or ways and need not be a member of Endurance GB. To be nominated by The Board of Directors.

THE ROSETTES DIRECT AWARD presented by Rosettes Direct

An award retained by the recipients, to the ‘Unsung Hero’, that is someone who has given unfailing service to Endurance GB by way of help at rides or assistance in any other way or ways and need not be a member of Endurance GB. To be nominated by an Endurance GB member or members, in writing to the Chairman by 31st October. The Board of Directors will, after deliberation, choose the recipient on merit. Serving members of the Board of Directors are ineligible.

THE NATIONAL ASSISTANCE AWARD presented by Rosettes Direct

A perpetual award to the ‘Unsung Hero’, that is someone who has given unfailing service to Endurance GB by way of help at rides or assistance in any other way or ways and need not be a member of Endurance GB. To be nominated by an Endurance GB member or members, in writing to the Chairman by 31st October. The Board of Directors will, after deliberation, choose the recipient on merit. THE BORTHWICK BACK-UP TROPHY presented by Bruce Borthwick BVMS,MRCVS

Awarded by the Board of Directors to the most competent back-up crew or person in the current season.

THE JOHN YEATS MEMORIAL BURSARY

A £100 bursary to be presented annually to a Young Rider to have reached 14 years but not to have attained his/her 19th birthday on 1 January in the relevant competition year. To be used in Endurance/Training for Endurance. Riders wishing to be considered for this award must themselves apply in writing to the Endurance GB Office by 31st October in the relevant competition year with appropriate documentary proof.

YOUNG VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD presented by Dr & Mrs P Claridge

An award for a Junior or Young rider aged 21 or under who has given unfailing service to Endurance GB by way of help at rides or assistance in any other way. To be nominated by any member of Endurance GB. The Board of Directors will, after due deliberation, choose the recipient on merit.

In all the following trophies THE BEST 10 RIDES SCORES ONLY TO COUNT unless otherwise specified (+/- 5% margin on distance does not apply to any of the trophy definitions)

MANAR TROPHY presented by Shuna Mardon

Awarded to the overall high point horse of the year gaining the most points in all types of rides.

ANNUAL POINTS AWARD SHIELD presented by Mrs Boxall

Awarded to the overall reserve champion.

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP presented by Endurance GB

Awarded to the champion horse ridden by senior member(s) gaining the most points in all types of rides.

YOUNG RIDER CHAMPIONSHIP, NIPPA TROPHY presented by Barbara Elwell

Awarded to the champion horse ridden by Young Rider(s) gaining the most points in all types of rides.

PIXIE TROPHY presented by Barbara Elwell

Awarded to the Young Rider reserve champion.

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP, MERRIE TROPHY presented by Joan Davies

Awarded to the champion horse ridden by Junior Rider(s) gaining the most points in Graded Endurance rides.

ZARPA TROPHY presented by Joan Davies

Awarded to the Junior rider reserve champion.

NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIP, MIRA TROPHY presented by Olive & Bernard Linge

Awarded to the champion novice horse gaining the most points in GERs in their first season (see Novice Rules for eligibility) entering rides of no more than 45km. Distances to be taken as published in the current Handbook. For rides in excess of 40km, points will be calculated for 40km only.

MAX SHIELD presented by Susan Miles

Awarded to the novice reserve champion.

VETERAN CHAMPIONSHIP, SILVERLING FLINT MEMORIAL TROPHY presented by Margaret Swords

Awarded to the champion veteran horse (18 years and over) gaining the most points in all types of rides. Winners of the MANAR and ANNUAL POINTS AWARD SHIELD are ineligible.

                                                                                                                                                                

ENDURANCE GB FEI CHAMPIONSHIP

Awarded to the horse and rider combination gaining the most points in FEI classes run under the auspices of Endurance GB (that is, those FEI classes in the Ride Programme of Endurance GB and the Scottish Endurance Riding Club for the current year).

SENIOR GRAND PRIX TROPHY presented by Endurance GB

Awarded to the horse and Senior Rider combination gaining the most points in Endurance GB Competitive Endurance Rides in the current season.

ADONIS TROPHY presented by the late Robin Nicholson

Awarded to the horse gaining the most points in Endurance GB Competitive Endurance Rides in the current season. Three best scores to count.

WINDARD BEST NEW HORSE TROPHY presented by Mrs Windard

Awarded to the horse gaining the most points in Competitive Endurance Rides in its first CER season.

DISTANCE RIDER TROPHY presented by Tony & Thea Ferridge

Awarded to the Senior Rider gaining the most points in Competitive Endurance Rides in the current season riding more than one horse.

TALISMAN TROPHY presented by Team Froehlich

Awarded to the horse achieving the fastest speed in a 1-day 160km Competitive Endurance Ride in the current season.

JASPER TROPHY presented by Jane Nicholson & Michael Port

Awarded to the horse gaining the most points in their three best Graded Endurance Rides. Points from all classes at Golden Horseshoe will not count. A tie will be resolved from the season’s vet sheets for the horses.

                                                                                                                                                                

THE PLEASURE PAIRS TROPHY - NEW for 2015

The two horse/rider combination must be registered and the best 6 rides to count

SENIOR ONLY TROPHIES

ROYAL LORD TROPHY presented by Lesley Caswell

Awarded to the horse, 7 years old and over, riding in their first season at open level, and gaining the most points in Graded Endurance Rides of 65km or less. Distances to be taken as published in the current Handbook. Points gained in Novice classes and longer rides do not count and competing in Advanced classes will disqualify the horse/pony from this trophy.

SAM WELLER TROPHY presented by Muriel Clements

Awarded to the horse gaining the most points in Graded Endurance Rides of 45km or less. Distances to be taken as published in the current Handbook. Points from longer rides do not count. Novices are not eligible. Points gained by Open/Advanced horses riding Novice classes do not count.

PICKREED MASTERPIECE TROPHY presented by Brian & Sheila Vaughan

Awarded to the Veteran Rider aged 60 or over gaining the most points in all types of rides.

JEFFMAUR TROPHY presented by Mrs Jeffreys & Heather Maurer

Presented to the horse and male rider combination gaining the most points in all types of rides.

COTSWOLD TROPHY presented by Jeanne Worby

Awarded to the pony (14.2hh and under) and senior rider combination gaining the most points in all types of rides. Proof of height may be required.

VLACQ KHAMUL MEMORIAL TROPHY presented by Tricia Hirst

Awarded to the highest placed horse/rider combination (UK based i.e. living and training in the UK) in the FEI World Rankings.

YOUNG RIDER GRAND PRIX TROPHY presented by Endurance GB

Awarded to the horse and Young Rider combination gaining the most points in Competitive Endurance Rides in the Endurance GB Ride Programme. Best 3 scores to count.

MELLOR YOUNG RIDER TROPHY presented by Elaine Mellor

Awarded to the Young Rider gaining the most points in Competitive Endurance Rides riding more than one horse.

RAGHAM TROPHY presented by Louise Graham

Awarded to the horse ridden by Young Rider(s) gaining the most points in Graded Endurance Rides.

THE WHITBRIDGE MERLIN MEMORIAL TROPHY presented by Tricia & Philip Hirst

Awarded to the highest placed Young Rider/Horse combination (UK Based i.e. living and training in the UK) in the FEI Young Riders World Rankings.

PETER BALL TROPHY presented by Peter Ball

Awarded to the Junior rider gaining the most points riding more than one horse.

SNOWFLAKE TROPHY presented by Brian & Sheila Vaughan

Awarded to the horse and Junior Rider combination gaining the most points in Graded Endurance Rides of 45km or less. Distances to be taken as published in the current Handbook.

 

COLLEE TROPHY

Awarded to the horse and Junior Rider combination in their first year of competition, gaining most points in all Graded Endurance Rides.

BOSTON BAY CUP presented by Derek Francis

Awarded to the horse registered by Wetherbys gaining the most points in all types of rides.

MESAOUD TROPHY presented by Mr & Mrs C Ware

Awarded to the Pure Bred Arabian gaining the most points in all types of rides.

CAIRO TROPHY presented by Mr & Mrs C Ware

Awarded to the Part Bred Arab or Anglo Arab gaining the most points in all types of rides.

PITCHFORD TROPHY presented by Lynne Thompson

Awarded to the registered pure bred British Native Pony gaining the most points in all types of rides.

REGENT TROPHY presented by Brian Shepherd

Awarded to the unregistered horse/pony gaining the most points in all types of rides.

RETRAINING OF RACEHORSES ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP

Awarded to the horse or pony registered at Wetherbys and with Retraining of Racehorses gaining the most points in all types of rides. The horse must have raced at least once to be eligible. For more details please see here

G PUTNIK TROPHY

Awarded to the Purebred Arab, Part Bred Arab or Anglo Arab previously registered with ARO gaining the most points in all types of rides. The horse must have raced at least once to be eligible. For more details please see here

ROSS TROPHY presented by Ann Hyland

Awarded to the most successful horse bred by its current owner who must be an Endurance GB member. Points from all types of rides will count. A photocopy of the registration papers or certificate of service must be produced for an unregistered horse. The owner of the mare at the time of foaling is deemed to be the breeder. In the case of joint ownership, the Endurance GB member is deemed to be the current owner for the purpose of this award.

 

PHOENIX FIELD ENDURANCE FUTURITY TROPHY – presented by Dr & Mrs P Claridge

Awarded to the Endurance GB Member whose horse (foal to 3 year old) receives the highest score in the Endurance Discipline of the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) Futurity Evaluations during the year

SHEER VERSATILITY AHS EGB NOVICE AWARD

For the highest placed member of either the AHS or EGB, riding an AHS-registered Novice horse aged 6 or older in its first year of endurance.

FERISHAL TROPHY

 It is to be presented to a registered pure bred arab Endurance horse, whose owner is a member of the Arab Horse Society.

                                                                                                                                                                

TEAM AWARDS

GREEN DRAGON LANE TEAM AWARD presented by Stephen Humphreys

Teams to comprise four horses, of which one nominated horse will only count points from rides of less than 50km. Distances to be taken as published in the current Handbook.
The team amassing the highest number of points (10 best rides per horse) at the end of the season will hold the trophy for one year.
Please send all information including horse registration number to Results Co-ordinator by May 1st.

THE TEAM OF THREE – name to be confirmed!  NEW for 2015

Open to teams of 3 horse/ rider combinations, teams must be registered by the 1st May.

One horse to be limited to distances under 45k, the other two horses to be limited to distances under 66k (single day) or 85k (multiday). Best 5 results to count.
